Frequently asked

Common questions from new clients.

Are you taking new personal tax clients?

+

Yes. We continue to take new personal tax clients throughout the year. We recommend reaching out before mid-March to secure an appointment during tax season.

How much does a personal tax return cost?

+

Fees depend on the complexity of the return. A straightforward T1 with employment income starts around the base rate, and additional schedules (self-employment, rental income, investments, foreign property) add to that. We're happy to quote a range over the phone once we know your situation.

Do you handle CRA audits and notices of objection?

+

Yes. We represent clients directly with the Canada Revenue Agency, including audit response, voluntary disclosures, notices of objection, and taxpayer relief requests.

Where is the office and is parking available?

+

We're at 1748 West 2nd Avenue in Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood, just off the corner of Pine and 2nd. Street parking is available nearby on West 2nd Avenue and the surrounding side streets.

Do you work with incorporated businesses?

+

Yes. We handle year-end financial statements, T2 corporate returns, GST and PST compliance, and payroll support for incorporated professionals and small businesses in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

What's the difference between a CPA and a CFP?

+

A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is licensed to prepare financial statements and tax returns. A Certified Financial Planner (CFP) focuses on long-range financial planning, including retirement, estate, and investment strategy. David Chiu holds both, so tax and planning happen in the same conversation.
